Being still

I have learned that it is okay to be still. It is okay to take time away and take care of me. It is okay to say no, and to focus on my well-being. I have learned that being still brings a peace that can never be brought. Within our daily lives, within our careers, within ministries, we are sometimes taught that being busy is productive, but is it productive, when we do not know how to pause and be still. Is it productive, when we cannot find time to spend with our loved ones? Is it productive when we do not know how to rest? Is it productive when we are unable to pause for just a second and embrace the beauty around us? Is it productive, when we put work before our children, and do not spend quality time with them? What we have learned, sometimes, we have to unlearn. I am unlearning. I am learning that it is okay to be still in my silence. -Natalee Antoinette
